“DIRT” – such is the name of Dr. WILL’s second album which will soon be released at the label Pepper Cake. Dr. Will’s straight tip – is this album really called dirt???
Yes and it’s excellent!
Dr. Will named his second album released on Pepper Cake “Dirt”.
Already this album’s forerunner “Speak Of The Devil” which has been produced as a concept album gained a real respectable result. As opposed to his first album, now “Dirt” is offering not only one single key note but a straight line with a sufficient number of diverging points. Of course, blues and rootmusic are building the base upon this masterpiece. But also the lyrical content is drawing a link between the tracks. One of those guiding themes is saying goodbye which is constantly picked up in different varieties. Another one is – as the album’s name gives it away – “Dirt”. Of course, Dr. Will does not define “Dirt” by unhygienic litter but rather by those words: “Dirt is an important part of our lives and not at least of the art. If you add some ambient noise like moaning or an amp’s humming to a song, everything is becoming automatically much livelier.” Of course, Munich’s granddaddy is still focusing on the magic of Voodoo and the interplay of all those finesses is what makes “Dirt” incredibly strong by offering not only great melodies but also great and intimate, musing moments. Not at least the doctor prescribes a good sense of “tongue-in-cheek” that must be included!
