The idea for this album arose during the beginning of the corona pandemic. All of a sudden I had lots of free time that I could spend on my synth collection that today contains about 80 synthesizers/modules. I discovered interesting sounds and patterns and I started working on instrumental songs in line with what I used to listen to in the seventies when I was a kid. And fairly quickly I made plans to record an album with 10 songs and I started with the titels.
“Cubicles” is a way to organize the bureau landscape at work where people all have their own island and therefore are working together and yet separated. Some of the titles refer to space related things (“Interstellar Voyager”, “Lunar Escape”, “Mars2Venus”) like they often used to do in the beginning of the synthesizer music. “Sinusoidal Atmosphere” and “Saw Unseen” contain two typical basic synth waves (sinus and saw) while “Saw Unseen” is also a play on words. “Time-Lapse” stands for the fact that 50 years have passed since I first started to listen to this kind of music and the recording of my own first album. And then there’s two songs that form a unity. “Afterworld” starts very happy and joyful but rather soon you feel a change in mood cause something terrible happens and towards the end it is about what’s left of our planet after a life destroying disaster. “Re-Genesis” tells the story of our planet recovering from this disaster and slowly rebuilding it into its former state. And I decided to end this album (and eventually the next ones too) with a song about a zodiac sign. For this one I chose mine, “Pisces”.
